When using a trickle charger should i be pulling the 30amp or 40amp fuse ?...
or is it ok to just leave them in place ?
Its never been a concern before and id be surprised if theres and issue but it seemed like there was some inference in the shop manual about disconnecting the fuse when charging..

thanks

Sounds like its not a concern

Heres the bit in the shop manual that made me wonder --> "Battery Recharge Fuse"

I had an issue with small optimate units where they just didn’t. So I bought a serious optimate meant for workshops and it’s fine. Never taken a fuse out, though it probably would have meant the small trickle chargers would have worked. Imagine the pfaff of removing a fuse every time :-(

This isn't the first time Moto-Guzzi has used (strange ,weird , misleading) terminology . That is simply the main fuse .
Attaching your trickle charger to the battery without removing that fuse will cause NO problem . Another example
to make my point is to look up how they describe "transmission and rear drive box" . Hope this eases your concerns .

Never removed any fuse .
Just a good information . I have an optimate 3 (Honda) that is nearly 15 years old .
I wondered if it was ok for our new AGM batteries .
Tu be sure, I'd ask the technical manager of the manufacturer Tecmate, and he told me by mail, that there is no problem to use it with the new AGM batteries :)

Don't take the manufacturer's word for it ( I've been through the same thing ) ! Right on the box
"for AGM batteries" . B.S . Put a voltmeter on it after it's been charging for a few hours or so , if it's
over 14.5V it's possibly going to damage your battery . I had to email a reply I got from Yuasa to the
manufacturer of the charger before they would refund my purchase . They said 15V volts was just fine !
That's my morning rant :) . Peter
