Hi I am working with a local shop for routine maintenance and tire change. As part of the inspection they have stated there is play on the rotor disc and they recommend replacing. I have not experienced issues with breaking and since the front is a floating rotor is that normal? I would assume a rotor would get more like 20k out of it and would rather not spend a couple hundred dollars in something that is normal for these type of rotors. Appreciate the thoughts.

Wow, just wow!

Really -did they just look at it and say “whoa that needs to be replaced !”
Are they an MG dealer ? It should be covered under warranty?

This is why I don’t like bringing anything to the “Shop”
Although I have found a couple of old codgers ( and I say that with the utmost respect ! ) that I trust with the Honda that I will ask to change the tires on the V7

@Raven @DeadEye I spoke with them today and referenced a video I found in the forums that showed the slight play and they reiterated to me that no other manufacturers with floating rotors ever recommends play so that is why they brought it up. They are still wondering why a Guzzi would be any different as that is not logical. They are not a Guzzi shop. We are going to leave it be and next time I can make it to the dealer, a couple hrs away I may have them check it out, but I have had no issues up and to this point. Thanks for the comments as it is nice to have a community to run these questions by, I may have just save a couple hundred dollars.

If they are in fact bad, they should be covered under warranty by a decent dealer. I've never seen any wear out so fast. IF you do need to purchase a new one, be aware I offer many at a varying price range; https://gtmotocycles.com/collections/brakes/category_rotors?sort_by=best-selling -- sales of the online GTM STORE items help support the site.
