HI all,

I'm fixing the leaks in my SPNT's transmission (potentially other posts forthcoming.) One of the leaks is coming from the outer body tunnel i.e. thrust mushroom tunnel.

I know there are a few fixes for a leak from this location, and I know that one of them is to fit an x-ring.
I'd like to try that approach. I'm hoping that someone who's done it can share which one they found success with.
Vendor, P/N or x-ring/Quad ring dimensions appreciated. Again, I'm hoping to hear from someone who's done it.

Thanks,
Andy

Someone sells a kit w/o-rings for clutch rod on a 5 speed, didn't see it at MG so maybe Harpers.
Charlie here may have a kit, I think he uses the o-rings.
Is this what you are talking about? Rod goes up the imput/clutch shaft?
I use the stock cups.

I also use the stock cups. Dave Richardson was the proponent of using multiple o-rings. He has since retired and the shop has closed.

I know what you mean, guys. I've always used the stock cups, too. I plan to use the six o-rings this time around, however.
What I'm asking about here is the EXTERNAL o-ring. MGcycle lists it as P/N GU90706170. I've read that ppl use an x-ring in that location.

There's a dated thread on another msg board that mentions it, and it sounded like a fix people have done. I don't want to violate any rules so I won't link it.

Never heard of an x-ring for them (thanks for not linking people away). That said, MGC sells an "alternate" double o-ring clutch body shown below, part # 14086100B. I’ve personally used this in many 5-spds.
Edit, John Z here sent me this; allorings.com/x-ring-seals - if you source the part #, please post it for future reference here.
