up untill about a week ago when i would start my bike in the morning it would start at about 2000 rpm and almost imediately drop to 1100 rpm. but for the last week when i start the bike in the morning it will go to 2000 rpm but now it wont idle down unless i give the bike some throttle....... any ideas?

it has been in the low 60's, but even last winter when the temp was in the 30's the bike would never really stay on fast idle only for a few seconds.

My Norge does the same thing periodically...no rhyme or reason. But it is only on first start of the day..........Typically the initial high idle is to clear the rich starting mixture to meet the emissions standard for that part of the running cycle. The O2 sensor might be giving the wrong signal to the OBC but I would think that would throw a code. There have been no lasting effects from this on my Norge...no warning lights....no code registered. Justdono.........

Happens to mine too. Most of the time it is normal and then, boom, it will idle at 2000 rpm. Turn it off and restart and the idle goes to normal, sometimes yes, sometimes no. Eventually it will end up going to normal idle. Gremlins getting restless. Hey, it's Italian.

No need to restart the bike. It's just the stepper motor playing with the mixture. Unless it keeps the rpms high and doesn't ever come down, it's normal.

My 2007 Norge "1200" USA was new to me about 2 weeks ago. 36,000 miles.

It consistently idles at 2000 to 2500 RPM. Not so good sitting at a looo-ong stoplight on a 100 degree day in AZ.

Still looking around these forums for a fix, yet the consensus above seems to be "they all do that."

C'mon guys, that can't be right...

Congrats, and hope you'll add your info to the Registry here; https://www.guzzitech.com/forums/threads/norge-registry-add-your-bike.11529/

Well known issue on the stepper motor. I sold a kit forever ago with an electronic valve that stopped air flow to it as needed. I'm not interested in making any more, but you can either plug that air supply line from the air box yourself, or venture in and clean the air tract in the stepper... it's reported here it helps (somewhat). Best to plug the line.
