Finally got the VDSTS working on my laptop after having some problems with the serial port/usb adapter and driver. With some good advice from Todd, got a replacement converter, plug `n` play. whahey.   Been running around like a dog with 2 dicks since I got it working. :woohoo: :woohoo: No more dragging the the old coal powered desktop out to the bike, just plug in and away we go. For someone who`s computer obliterate, this is a major achievement. Why is it that some people can see computers like Neo from matrix, and people like me just want to hit them with a whitworth spanner? (the computer that is, not people, but there again, some smartarses could do with a good bludgeoning)
Many thanks Todd. I feel another donation coming on.

Hi Tod,

I have been experiencing the same issue.
VDSTS runs fine in Vista environment but the usb/serial adapter drivers are not compatible.
What was the sollution?

I was able to get it to work on Vista by downloading the drivers from the web, cd didn't help me. Even better, when I installed it on Windows 7 it found the drivers automatically and runs with no issues.

Ditched the keyspan adapter cos I didn`t have a disc with it. Despite trying to download the driver from technoresearch it wouldn`t work, and bought one of these. http://www.usbnow.co.uk/Adapters_&_...to_RS232_Adaptor_+_1M_Cable/product_info.html cheap as chips. didn`t bother with the disc, as soon as I plugged it in, pooter said "found new hardware" do you want to search for driver for this? Tapped yes and let it do its stuff until it found it and then saved it. It really was that simple, even a numpty like me could do it. plugged it into the bike and away to go.I did try to make sure it was the same sort of spec that Todd recommended, i.e. 250 jigerrypokerybits a second (fast) 2.0 adapter. :D
