Bar End Mirrors...

I would really like to fit some nice bar ends to my Griso.

Can someone who's been there already post up their solution? I am swearing off cheap Chinese crap, having been through so many on other bikes that its clear that quality parts are worth it.

None that I have ever mounted had any kind of handlebar ends or weights like modern bikes (and the Griso) so I really have never dug in to see what is involved and whats needed.

Pics would be extra nice.

Thanks

I've put Napoleons on both my Royal Enfield and my V7 Classic. They look sharp, though had to do some creative re-design to get them on the V7 due to the handle bar ends being not hollow.

Bar end mirrors are the best IMO.

My Griso came with bar end mirrors from Cycle Gear. They are just CRG knock-offs. CRGs are definitely nicer (have them on my Multistrada), but these work well and were 1/2 the price.

IIRC, the Griso bars have an insert in them with a threaded hole, which is a bit odd. The screw which attached the mirror to the handlebar (usually with an expansion insert) just screws into the threaded insert in the Griso bar. Just get whatever mirrors you want...worse case you have to go to your local hardware store and pick up a couple screws.

Here's a link to CRG in case you're not familiar. Best mirrors on the market IMO.

Hmmmm good stuff. I have Napolean "like" bar ends on my Enfield and CRG "like" on my Yamaha but the cheap expansion thingys are what I am trying to avoid.

I like the ones on JJ's.

Figures theres some funk with the handlebars. I'll pull my weights off one of these days and see whats in there.

Thanks

I have CRG mirrors on my Griso. They were mounted on my triumph for seven years, took them off when I sold it. They had the expansion wedges but that doesn't work with the Griso end weights so I ground off all of the wedge and fitted the mirror to the end on the Griso end weight. I just bought a longer threaded fastener to go through the mirror mount and into the Griso weight. They work flawlessly still.

I just moved the controls in by about 1/2" on either side and mounted the mirrors between the grips and the bar end weight which screws right onto where it always did. not the greatest pic in the world, but it looks REALLY slick in person. I got the cheapo mirrors, which looked great for a while, but now the chrome looks like it's dirty, permanently. it looks worse in the shot cause of the flash, but at $15 bucks a pair versus $75 apice for the CRGs, i can afford to throw these out when they get too ugly.

once upon a time, i made some new bar end weights out of some high alloy steel, that looked just like the stock ones (not stainless, but it looked SHARP all polished up) which had 7/8 posts on either side, just wide enough to clamp the mirror onto. But, i didnt like those, and i gave them to todd in exchange for some rocker cover gaskets. (they pushed the mirrors out too far, felt a mile wide) I like my current solution better, and the width addition is minimal.

Re: Bar End Mirrors (solved!)...

I appreciated all the input. I really like the CRG Lane Splitters (the folding ones) and will probably get them for my Enfield and Yamaha next time my cheap crap needs replacement.

The Rizoma's really caught my eye though - that Italian styling...

While checking out Rizomas I found a brand new set (not bar end) that have an interesting style available on EBay. I threw a low bid at them and got them. They arrived today and I threw them on tonight. They have a much lower profile than the stockers and the brushed aluminum matches the frame pretty well.

Sorry for the garage pics, its cold here!

I've used CRGs on my Ducatis. They are beautiful, well made items and look so much better than the stock mirrors. But you can't see squat with them so I'll stick to the stockers!

I just don't 'get' bar end mirrors. The OE items may be flimsy plastic carp (mine are water staining behind the glass now), but they don't look so bad, and work reasonably well.

Whilst I appreciate that out in the States they frown upon filtering, I find the Griso bars quite wide enough as it is when I'm scything through traffic, I certainly don't want anything further out off the bar end impeding progress.

dats da truth. Filtering is the only thing that makes traffic bearable but I've already kissed the side mirror on a 4 wheel drive. I apologised profusely, needless to say he wasn't the forgiving type. I definitively need the mirrors inside the existing profile but finding the right one?

I think the CRG can be mounted in other ways, Clam did his between the grip and end weight or you can reverse the mirrors on my bike (red Griso) and have them turn in toward the grip so that they don't extend past the bar ends. I can assure you I do see EVERYTHING with these small mirrors.

I'll be changing out my bars to something less wide this winter//spring. I always knew the stockers had to go especially with the bar end mirrors attached to the ends of the bar ends, way to wide looking in photos. They aren't as bad in person...

Try Rizoma or Oberon for some other quality suggestions.

I have the oberon streetfighters, but they are non-adjustable without tools (and kind of small), but they have some ball joint versions.

Here's my Griso with some CRG Arrows. Sorry I don't have a shot of the back side but the mount has a pivot on the bar clamp that rotates inward or outward. The mirror itself has a ball mount so it can be rotated and tilted. I wanted these in from the end but of course you could also clamp them to the end weight (if it was 7/8ths dia.)
