Hi,
I have a 2010 Stelvio and have a set of PIAA Cross Country lights that I plan on hooking up to it. I would like to use the stock wiring, ie. stock handlebar switch and wiring. I understand that the wires/connectors for the stock fog lights are tucked under the fairing somewhere.
So my questions are:
- Does anybody know where the wires/connectors are hidden, what color are they?
- Does the power for the stock fog lights run through a relay? If there is a relay - where in the circuit is it, before or after the handle bar switch? or is it a simple hard wired switch? I would like to avoid having to use the PIAA relay if at all possible.

Thanks in advance :D Peter

Look in the fusebox in the RH fairing bit. There is a SPACE for the relay but it isn't fitted. Neither does it come with the factory fog light kit!  .

The connectors are fairly obvious, Can't remember the colours but from memory there are four connectors, two higher up for the heated grips and then two slightly lower for the lights. Stick a relay in the fusebox and then use a multimeter to find which is which and plumb 'em in from there.

Pete

Peter, the wire colours are -Blue (ground wire), -Yellow with Black tracer (the hot). Have included a better wiring drawing that clearly shows all items. The relay is item #6 and the fog lights are #52. The wires are located as per Pete Ropers comments, just under the lower fairing. Not two hard to find. Hope this helps.

Great, the wiring diagram is GREAT! thanks
I have inserted a 5 prong relay.
A couple of more questions:
- I assume that a 5 prong relay is fine even though the wiring diagram indicates only 4 (snagged an extra I had for my old V11).
- Am i correct in assuming that the relay will only fire up when the engine is running (headlights only work when running)?
- I found a little white squarish connector with the, as you noted, colored wires coming out right under the fuse/relay block (right side), but at first glance couldn't find a connector on the left side. Are there connectors provided both sides? or should the lights be connected to the one plug provided?

Thanks in advance

There is a separate connector for each side. Which V11 relay are you using? Not all relays are the same. Your dealer can order one specifically for the fog lights. Or...I had mine shipped from Greg at Moto International. If you have the right relay, it should only work with the bike on.

A 5 pin style from a V11 will work. That is what I used.
The lights will only come on once the engine is running.
The handlebar switch only switches the relay as expected, so you don't need the additional PIAA relay.

I also added a small sealed 12V relay coil to my high beam. Placed the contacts across the handlebar switch contacts. When I switch to high, I get all lights. Nice surprise at night for people that fail to dim thier lights.

Really struggling to find the heated grips connectors mentioned. Anyone gimme any clues?
Mine were coiled up and tucked in behind the abs unit on the left hand side. I had to remove the tank.

Wow, talk about bringing an old thread back to life! So I have talked to people on the phone and have googled myself to oblivion and I CANNOT find a part number for the fog light relay on the 2010. I see where it goes and it looks like it would be identical to the other 3 (LIGHT, 2 INJ, and START UP). They all look like 4 pins. I have installed some aux lights but I want to get them working. Can anyone help me please? I just need a part number so I can one ordered. Sounds like a simple task.

Thanks so much,

Robert
