"Ghost throttling sound" or something on my Norge

Just got back from a short dinner ride. As I was pulling into the alley, and as I rolled off the throttle, I heard what sounds like a "ghost surge" or something. Very hard to describe, but I've not heard it before. At idle in the GarageMahito, I gave it some throttle and then backed off...and heard a faint but present noise kinda like, well, the engine revving, AFTER the engine revved.

I know it's almost no info to go on--I'll try to post a recording or a video. But still--ring a bell with anyone?

I noticed when stopped at a light or stop sign, idling, pull in the clutch put it into first it will idle up a bit as if the machine knows that you are about to take off. Also new engines do not idle down as quickly as those of years ago due to emissions controls.

Off the top of my Pea Brain, check for loose or cracked header collector box, A loose baffle in the Exhaust can can cause some weird sound effects as well.

Did you let the throttle out very abruptly? There have been cases of engine stalling in that situation, and I know mine has developed a susceptibility to slow down a bit too much when I cut off the gaz at once. And after a slow stall or an almost-one, the ECU tends to boost the idle for a short while.
Would that be it?

That's the stepper motor at work.

Yes, indeed (well, that's the ECU at work through the stepper motor ;) ), but you'll agree that a short/minimal manifestation of this feature may be what's causing the effect Mojo is trying to hunt down, no?
