I'm trying to figure out what to do with the underseat power outlet. It looks like a normal cigarette type outlet rated at 180 watts yet from all the info I can gather it is apparently not good for heated apparel. What are you fellas using it for?

I'd like to know myself. Regular cigarette lighter accessories keep popping out. I have used mine for charging the cell phone and a cheepo GPS that is not mounted. To hold a charger in, I just jam it with whatever is handy, like a rag.

Why would it not be good for heated clothes?
if the wires are rated to carry aprox 15 amps should be no big deal
As far as it being a cig outlet just relace it with a BMW style outlet.
UNless of course some factory fault in the design of it

Thats basically why I was asking if anyone was actually using the outlet. Most accessories are wired for either sae type or bmw type. I figure I will change the outlet to the bmw type.

I'm using it for charging my Nokia cellphone during vacations. The plug stays in perfectly. It's connected directly to the battery, so when I switch the motor off, it'll still be loading my cellphone. Just watch out with "heavier" stuff than a cellphone when you stall your engine...... :!:
