A few broken ribs later...a Quill end can

I went out on mine today, the first time I've been able to give it a good thrash since getting the Quill. It goes like the clappers, runs quite smoothly, but does pop a bit very now and then on the over run, it doesn't seem excessive, certainly no worse than my GS1150 when it had a Remus can. Sounds great too. All things considered I'm pleased with it.

Hi, it's about time I waded into the conversation. I had a Quill fitted mid-July to my 2009 A5 motor with about 6000 on the clock. (I say 'about' 'cos I had the dash replaced at 3600-ish.) I had a 120 mile splash up the M6 to the shop, listened to the rain while the guys fitted my s-steel Evo2 and then splashed back home. I immediately found more grunt and better acceleration in 6th gear on the motorway on the way back, and since then the big thing's been bowling along like a good-un. The mid-range slump (sorry, Mandello, but there was one...) has gone completely, fuel consumption has settled down to a respectable 40-48mpg in mixed conditions (UK gallons).

My dyno gave 89bhp at 6600 and 72ft.lb at 6300. The torque curve is fairly flat as you can see with a couple of small dips mid-range that I can't feel on the road. The fuel curve looks very bowed, but the scale only shows between 13 and 13.9, so it's pretty flat in fact. I can't understand why Fatal's fuel curve is so curvy and others mentioning theirs varying from the 14's down to the 12's! Speedaway installed the latest map in August, but there's no discernible difference from the Griso map they'd put in in the spring. Minimal surging on a steady throttle at mid to low revs.

I can screw the power on from as low as 1500 revs, and the thing just thuds a bit harder and heaves itself up the rev range to smoother climes! Suck on that, multis!

Got mine last week and fitted it last weekend, Arranged a visit to Quill (about 20 miles away) to put on the dyno.

Attached photo as fitted and the Dyno results

Similar power and torque to Fatal, but a very lean A/F curve and something strange at the top end. Quill said it was Ok but not brilliant.
Only took them a few minutes to set up and run so not sure how accurate the rig is in this instance.
The bikes is a 08 with 7000 miles, only other mod is a K&N air filter. It had a new map at its cam recall in July after which it ran much better.

Any issues with lean running, I get good ecomony low to mid 40s mpg (UK), bike seems to go well, not much change from the original can apart from appearance, but then I think my old can had been decatted. See https://www.guzzitech.com/forum/190/5263.html.

Not sure if anyone has posted this yet. This is the dyno chart posted in the Feb 2010 issue of Motorcycle Consumer News for a 010 Stelvio
