What beautiful pics! Thanks for posting. The coastal topography in some of those scenes reminds me of Newfoundland, on my side of the Atlantic.

Cheers,

Bruce

Hi Bruce
I would LOVE to see/be in Newfoundland and the surrounding area, for a while anyway. Cape Cod / Henry Beston's outermost house etc too (though I've seen on the web that storms devastated the original cabin).

There are, of course, ancient sea-faring links between here and there.

Did you see the recent pics of part of west coast, in the Ride section: Next Parish - is in America. West Coast Ireland ?

Thanks for the link! I had not seen those pics, and they are great.

Yes, there are strong ties between Ireland and Newfoundland. A number of years ago, I had a boss, Brian, who was originally from Ireland. He and his wife (who is Chinese-Canadian) were traveling through Newfoundland. They stopped on one occasion to ask a young man for some directions. She could not understand a word he was saying, but Brian conversed quite easily with him. Brian told his wife afterward that the young guy's accent was identical to the way everyone in his county back home spoke. Newfoundland is isolated enough from the rest of Canada, that the Irish inflection has remained all these years. Newfoundlanders are the warmest, most hospitable people in Canada as well.

One of these days, I hope to make it across the pond as well. My wife and I have signed up for a High Alpine Tour next year with Edelweiss Travel, which should be a great trip, but I would really like to tour Ireland, Scotland and England as well. (My own ancestors were Scottish Highlanders.)

Best regards,

Bruce
