Final got the tank off the G11 after dicking with the not so f@#king quick, quick release..... Question for y'all, i read 6-7 times here that some line could fall off of or in the tank and needs a couple of stainless jubilee clips as a better replacement than the original, but for the life of me i can't find the thread. I believe it's something to do with the fuel pump, anybody know????

I had some oil drip from the left head, but after looking closer it was coming from a breather of some sort under the tank, hence the tank removal. So while i have it off i thought i'd have a go at replacing what ever needs doing in or around the tank.

Anything else you can think off that needs attention while tanks off, give me a heads up....

Thanks

Mark

Early Grisos and some other models had a problem with the fuel hose that connects the pump to the filter blowing off due to it being made out of cheap, non-submersible, hose. Well worth going in while the tank is off and making sure that the hose isnt loose.

I will take the opportunity to apply some heat conductive paste to the cylinder temperature sensor.

Look to see if the tank is rubbing against the frame, it should be obvious by the worn paint. I had to shim mine up by putting a washer under one of the rubber bumpers. It's also a good time to remove the carbon can if you have it.

You`re right about the "not so quick" quick release. As for the fuel hose blowing off the pump :- it was the wrong type of rubber hose used which got soft and the crimped on clamps couldn`t hold it. Get yourself some good quality hose suitable for immersion in petrol (not just any ol` petrol pipe), I say "immersion" `cos you don`t just want pipe that`s petrol proof on the inside. Also use proper band type hose clamps that will clamp evenly for a proper finish as jubilee clips distort slightly, especially if they`re ever so slightly oversize. ;)

Check the cylinder head breather hoses. They normally get zip tied to the wiring harness and frame (they get pinched) going to the oil collector at the front of the bike. Mine had to be re-routed and properly zip tied to avoid pinching.

Thanks for the response's guy's, looks like i'll have a busy Saturday to get on the road for Sunday........
