Alas, the insurance company has written off the Griso Pinko.

The story for those unfamiliar is that I'd left it with Greg in Seattle with instructions it could be lent out to anyone who he thought wasn't a nutter. Another Aussie Bruce borrowed it and went with a few mates for a pizza in downtown Seattle. While they were eating outside the pizza joint some retard on a ZX10 launched from about a Km away and two blocks from the pizza shop a car pulled out in front of him. He slammed into the car, (Luckily he survived but with serious injuries.) and the ZX10 cartwheeled into Pinko outside the restaurant.

The good news is that if Pinko hadn't been there Bruce and his mates would or worn a tumbling ZX10! I also carry comprehensive coverage with Progressive so it's all covered. Needless to say neither of the other parties involved seem to have any insurance at all  so I loose my deductible. Even so, since I got the bike at an absolute bargain price and they are giving me market value I'll still end up making money on the deal AND I get to keep the wreck!

Griso was a bodyguard. He earned his money that night!!!!

Pete

Pete,
A sorry story but with a better outcome than it could have been.
When my G11 was totalled the blind drivers insurers wouldn't let me keep the wreck but I wasn't fussed as they bought me a brand new 8v to replace it. You got any project plans for your wreck?

Hi Pete, will you get another Griso 8V in the US to replace the deceased Pinko :?:

Oh, Pinko will arise phoenix-like from the ashes, rest assured. Not in my posession though, I'll take the money and run!!!!! Chances are I'll buy another one. While I was toying with the idea of a Stelvio at the end of the day I'm a Griso Guy. Smuggling polar bears has never been my thing  .

As it is I'll hopefully get the cheque sent to my daughter, (the gun nutter!) in Ithaca. Exchange rate is shit at the moment, I don't want to repatriate the cash here. She's going to need some money for her trip to Kenya.

Yeah! Don't mess with my girl!!!!

Good to see the Griso taking one for the team .. deserves a medal

Given the prices Guzzi charge for some of the parts wouldn't it be worth taking any surviving pricey parts back to OZ piece by piece as hand luggage .. or would Customs frown on CARC smuggling given that it has the same value as gold by weight.. :pinch:

Can I have the engine

You'd need the entire motive unit as well as the FI and dash + loom. 8V Gearbox may look the same but it ain't. Neither is the clutch or FI.

Pete

OK, when can you come over and install the bits, I feed you well and buy you beer

Talking about beer, here's another suggestion for that engine :silly:

Hey, Pete. Check your PM folder. Sent you a message earlier in October, and also an earlier email regarding your CARC breather mod.

Thanks,

Bruce

well, in any case, sorry for your loss, but it seems you too scored big $. Kudos!

When you coming back? Sorry i missed your kid btw.

Two people have now offered me their 1100's. Sorry guys, but when you've got the 8V 'Taste' there's no going back......

Pete

As a (lowly) G11 owner I am reminded of something my father once told me that I find relates to the 8V - he said... "Son, you never want to try on the expensive suit." As long as I keep off the 8V I will be in riding bliss....

Oh, and good news on the insurance end.
