Stelvio fuel consumption

This just in...

As is fitting with its heritage of classic Italian style and innovation, Moto Guzzi introduces the revamped and improved Stelvio NTX to its model lineup. Based on the Stelvio 1200 - which acquired its name from the famous Alpine pass that connects Italy's Valtelline Valley to the Vinschgau Valley - the Stelvio NTX reaches a record range thanks to a new, 32-litre fuel tank. The Stelvio NTX's aerodynamically designed fairing , backed by Moto Guzzi's renowned V-shaped 90 degree transverse twin-cylinder engine, is perfect for short and long road trips, and will be available in dealerships at the end of 2011.

One has to hope it's baffled! You can imagine trying to ride with half a tank of gas sloshing about!!!!

Actually a huge, overweight, bloated pig like a Stelvio with that much fuel aboard would actually be quite good fun to wrestle around. Not much fun to pick up though and any customer who brings one in with a full tank for me to remove can sod off and burn some of it! I'm not puting my back out for them!!!! :D

Eight and a half gallons???? My god! What about the glove box????

32 litres fuel tank ..... Extra 30lbs or so in the front.....that'll affect the handling!

We'll just have to re-enforce the front shocks ????....

Shoot, you could probably fit another Polar Bear (for a total of 3) in the tank and still hold 200 mi worth of fuel.

I was reading up on the Italian forum ..... debating whether its a 32l tank or a 24l tank the Stelvio will have.
In this review they are talking about a new 24l.

The information that baffles me is that the new tank will be able to cover a distance more that 300km before thinking of refueling.
A 32l tank that covers more than 300km thats more or less 10l/100km (23.5miles/gal?) of fuel consumption?
http://www.motorbox.com/moto/moto-guzzi-stelvio-2011

Maybe its a 24l with a 8l reserve.

If the 2011 has the same fuel consumption as my present Stelvio +/- 7l/100km ..... with a 32l tank you'll be able to do about 457km before you run completely dry. :woohoo:
Time to get into the saddle buisness......
