Hello : Just wondering, I have just purchased a new Stelvio (which I take delivery of in the spring). I have read on this forum about one or two individuals having top end problems in the UK and was interested to hear if anyone in North America or Europe has had any similar problems,or any serious problems period. Thanks.

Mine's still comin so no idea

Welcome Douglas, I am just a tad jealous.....

Problem is your Avatr looks supiciously like a Bufo marinus so I'm thinking you have roots in Northern Australia???

Congrats on your Stelvio order, might be a long wait over your winter, why not come down here and borrow mine when it comes and go for a ride to get some practice in :cheer:

Post often, heaps of recovered technical data is about to appear (hopefully) for your winter reading pleasure and I recon it will only be a few hours before RacerX sticks you up for your details in teh Stelvio registry :)

Hello Mike, Actually it was a toad in a park not far from where I live. No roots in north Oz,born and raised in Toronto. It's possible it was bufo marinus since they are as far north as Florida in this hemisphere. Tempting offer,I've always wanted to see Australia, and it sounds like a good way to travel there. I've been looking at bikes for the last 6 months or so. I was probably going to buy a Triumph Tiger ... then I checked out a Stelvio and that was all she wrote. Cheers.

Thanks for the feedback to all who reponded, I have my suspicions that it may be particular to a limited no. of machines and it looks like they all found there way to the UK ( unfortunate for those who got them). Yes those of you in warmer climes ,it will be a long winter. First snow last night, here in Toronto. Oh well the spring will be here soon, besides it gives me a chance to pay for it, ha ha!.

There's been about half a dozen cases in the Uk, mine and Loftyjohn's being the worst.
ileage is not an issue, some have been early on, mine did 10,000 miles then ate the cam followers for breakfast at 5.30 on a frosty morning. The basic 8v engine has been around a while and the Griso Norge have not had a problem. I too think it's a batch of bad followers that got through. The production line is geared for Uk models, Euro models, Canadian etc. They batch build bikes, so the engines that go in are probably from the same build. I should get 35k on mine before the 2 year warrenty runs out so keep on waatching, lol

Hello, GuzziBittenCanadian, and welcome ;)

A little correction to Gary's post: the Norge still uses the (ahem) trusty old 2V engine. It's probably next in line to receive the 8valver, though.

I read about a week ago, that the 1200 sport will now use the 8 valve engine next. I also saw a picture, but I just cannot remember where...... I think it was MCN (motor cycle news) but I cannot be sure. I will try and find the picture and post it. I think as far as the Norge is concerned it will still use the 2 valve motor.

I was in the exact same disposition. I was even close to buying the Triumph but the dealer sold the white one I wanted at the last minute... then I found my Stelvio and haven't had one minute of regret since!

I hadn't heard of any of these problems. Has Guzzi determined that it was a bad batch of cam followers? I think I would want to know if my engine was part of the affected lot and repar beforehand. Not that I have a Stelvio, not yet anyway.

Hal

Hi
4000km and not a single problem, nothing but FUN FUN FUN. Stella is my 6th Guzzi ... in 28 years:woohoo: Here in the shed side by side my V7 sport

Luc

Luc, that's quite a "shed." You sell parts in there(?), because that is a better presentation then most dealers I've seen. ;)

What you don't see on the picture is that most of that stuff is remainings from accidents, broken or modified Guzzi parts or documentation which I collected over many years on my attic. Most of these bits and pieces have a personal story. During this summer, I got into a nostalgic mood (after seeing 'the worlds fasted Indian':cheer: ) and decided to turn all this junk into my personal museum
Cheers,
Luc

Dont get me wrong, after all the cam probs, I still love the Stelvio to bits. Raw V2 power, good chassis, excellent all rounder.
Cant fault the grin factor, rode 20 miles to work this morning and it was the best part of the day...........until the ride home.

That's good news because I might have an offer for my 1200 Sport... which would mean an ABS Stelvio coming my way :p
