I think I may have a problem.
About a month ago, when I attempted to start the bike, the dash showed ECU Communication fault and the speedo needle oscillated up and down about half way up the dial. I switched off the ignition and then back on again. The error message had disappeared but the speedo needle did the same as before. it stopped. I tried to start the bike, the engine fired but cut out immediately. This happened a couple of times and then it started perfectly and the bike ran faultlessly for a couple of weeks.
Yesterday morning the same thing happened [ but without the ECU error showing]. When I got it started it ran perfectly for the rest of the day.
I'm planning to take the bike to Scotland in May for a week touring the Highlands so I'm a bit concerned.
Is it likely to leave me stranded? Is there anything I should do?

Fuck me drunk! Doesn't anybody, A-N-Y-B-O-D-Y, ever do a search or even just look back through about the last three topics posted in one or other of the sodding forums?

Christ on a bloody crutch!

Thanks Pete - that was helpfull.
And yes, I did a search before I posted my query, but couldn't find anything which could help.
Perhaps you could point me in the right direction?
Hope your day improves.

Thanks for the help guys.

I had cleaned the battery terminals but hadn't thought about the ground connection - will check.
Also, I imagine the battery is the original, which would make it over three years old - so probably due a change.

And thanks for the links - I had spotted some of them, but will go through them again.

Cheers,

Tom.

Tom, I apologise. Thing is I'm in a LOT of pain at the moment and my temper, never my best or most long-lived quality, is remarkably short at the moment. I can only work a couple of hours a day and have to undertake a series of fascistic exercise classes run by a huge, sweating, hulk of a woman who insists its 'Doing me good' even though I alays walk out of the joint feeling like I've just gone five rounds with Mike Tyson! My temper is a short as my mind is small and sometimes I sit down at the keyboard and just give the first person who pisses me off a bit a spray!

S'not your fault. I'll try to be a better person on the board. Even to fuckwits, (Of whom you aren't one.).

Pete

I appreciate that Pete.

We can all feel like lashing out from time to time, and you would appear to have more cause than most.

Lets hope that huge, sweaty, fascist lady sorts you out. [I can't get that image out of my head.]

Cheers,

Tom.
