Not quite up to speed with contractual law but I thought that if CSC was acting on behalf of Piaggio as the Canadian distributor then how is it the warranties are suddenly deemed invalid on the bikes sold during the CSC realm

Read it a little closer.

Once the CSC dealers became "not authorized" They could not enter your bikes information into the Piaggio database to register the warranty. So, if you purchased a new bike from one of these dealers after they lost their piaggio dealership, the bike cannot be registered. You would then need to take that bike to an authorized dealer for them to check out/PDI the bike and enter the VIN into the Piaggio system. That said, If I bought a bike during the CSC period, I would check with a current dealer the the VIN of my bike is registered in the Piaggio system.

You will need your original bill of sale showing the VIN and date of purchase for them to register the bike.

Thierry was very quick to respond and helpful - Don't pay any dealer (if you can find one!) until you have tried this route, it was painless for me and was sorted out in under a week.

I have to say that Piaggio does stand behind their product even though the organisation does leave much to be desired.

Hope this helps.

I bought my Guzzi before all this brewhaha. (in early October 2009)
One way I confirmed that the bike was registered is that not too long ago I received a letter congratulating me on the purchase of the bike. (From Guzzi Canada)

https://www.guzzitech.com/forum/177/6106.html#p45927

My dealer closed it's doors spring 2010.
Haven't gone to any authorized dealer yet ...... and from thing I hear am a little sceptic to do so. :(

It was all pretty easy for me. Bought 2009 Stelvio used. Brought it into my dealer for first (to me) service and, as far as Piaggo knew, it had never been sold. Scanned and e-mailed in a PDF of the original invoice to dealer and got my warranty items attended to. Super easy.
