On the multiple posts regarding non-start issues, and after fielding a handful of panic phone calls & e-mails... For any battery nearing the 2-year+ mark on the YTX20CH-BS (used in most all of the newer Guzzis), I highly recommend doing/having a "load test" done to see if it is ready for replacement.
I keep my Norge on a new-style Battery Tender, and on Sunday the bike wouldn't start, even flashing the small red (!) warning on the dash. A DVM showed the standing voltage at 11.6, and a load test proved the battery was indeed in need of replacement. The Tender light showed fully charged when plugged in.
This is a recurring issue that has caused much frustration. Get to it, before it gets to you. ;)

I have aftermarket gel cell batteries that are direct replacement on the Store tab above, direct here; https://www.guzzitech.com/store/catego ... lectronics

Thanks for the post. My battery is at the 4 year mark, and so far so good. Glad to know you have a good replacement available.

I would be very interested in buying one of them from you. Mine is nearing four years old and it does not hold a charge for very long. I suspect it will not make the summer and I don't like being stuck.
What would it likely cost me in shipping to B,more, Md.
And do you have it listed at GuzziTech or do I deal directly with a PM?

Pete, I don't remember seeing any PDI work involving adding battery acid. No? I hear you loud and clear, and it is a point of contention on sealed AGM batteries, agreed.

Bob, the last few I got were unmarked. All I can say is that they are made in Japan, under U.S.-spec, and they are tested and inspected when they arrive here by the importer.

GM, I'll get a shipping cost on Monday, should be ~$11 anywhere in the lower 48 U.S. -- PM/direct e-mail is always best.

Being one of those with a battery probably on its last legs, I would be interested, but also being in the UK, the cost or even possibility of sending it here would be at least expensive.
Do you have the specification of these alternatives, what capacity? I have found one here which is the same external dimentions, but the capacity in AH is much lower than the original, so it would probably have an even shorter life.

Yes, unfortunately shipping would be ~US $45. OEM Yuasa is 17.5AH. My offering is 19AH. In two months, the new version will be 20AH. Direct replacement/size.

Well that is interesting, the whole lot would come to 130 USD shipped, assuming it slips under our customs radar (plus 17.5% otherwise).
At current approx exchange rate (1.5 USD to 1 UKP), that equates to about 87 UKP. The cheapest I can get the Yuasa OEM is about 105 UKP here in the UK. I would have to pay local shipping on that too.

Interesting. I'd be happy to send you one if you decide.

I suspected that my battery wasn't so great when the bike didn't start after sitting for half a month this winter. Last weekend I took it to a car parts store, and to my surprise, it tested OK. The battery is Motocross brand. I think I read somewhere that batteries don't come from the factory with bikes, but sourced locally and installed by dealers.

Did it cycle the fuel gauges but nothing when you hit the starter button? Check the connections at the battery and the two 30 amp fuses. I ran into a bad fuse holder some time ago.

Oh, yes, I had issues with connection at positive terminal several times. Finally a generous application of a protective spray solved this problem. Last time I had to charge the battery.

All, I have two more 19AH AGM batteries in stock now for $85+ shipping (stock is 17.5AH). There will be no more available until end of next month. Contact me direct if interested. PM or direct e-mail; Todd at GuzziTech.com

My 09 Norge battery was just replaced....A load test showed marginal then bad.....Replaced with a Shorai will see if it lives up to its hype....I still have to wonder if low battery voltage and/or the loose ground, cause excess heat at the 6 pin ignition connector that was the source of my no start issue... recently....

Dan, please do, as I'm now a dealer for the better Anti-Gravity instead of Shorai. Available in the Store tab linked above. International shipping is no problem.

I have one 19AH AGM left for $85+ shipping for anyone interested.

Hi everyone!

I'm slowly coming back to biking after my loooong story of health and work troubles, and the first thing I run onto was... yes, you guessed it, a dead Yuasa.

Unfortunately shipping from the US kills any good deal or I'd order one of Todd's, so, what's a good replacement battery for the default Yuasa? Optimally I'm looking for a slightly more powerful unit.

zapa - how's your French? Search around a bit on guzzi.webemoi.com, there must be a link to at least 1 European site that proposes very interesting prices.
I can read it well enough, thanks for the link RJVB! :D

Well the batteries dead & gone, should have left the optimiser on all the time. Any thoughts on the motobatt MBTX16U £66 delivered, seems about the same price as a Yausa. These gel plate batteries claim great things. Any one tried one?

I fitted one about 16 months ago, bike sat unused for a few months due to mechanical issue - bike and rider, no problems so far

I've just fitted a Motobatt after the original died. Seems to be coping well with winter starting and constant use of heated grips. The dash is showing about 12.6v in the mornings, rising to between 13.7 and 14.2 when running - is that reasonable?
