Cruisin' Guzzisti
I just had my 12000 mile - 2 year service and the thing wouldn't idle when cold for about 5 miles or so. Traced the problem to a blocked feed pipe to the idle control valve from the airbox. Some bright spark at Mandello thought it wouldn't matter if the engine re-breather pipe entered the airbox just beside the idle control pipe - about 2 inches away.
Had the throttle bodies cleaned and they were thoroughly gummed up in the airbox end - clean as a whistle the other side of the butterfly. Clearly the idle pipe was sucking oily matter from the breather flow.
You can see the two pipes behind the battery container at the top of the airbox. Idle pipe on the left, engine breather to the right. I haven't done it yet, but I intend to disconnect the breather pipe, block the hole into the airbox, extend the pipe and install a filter out to atmosphere.
The thing rides and runs beautifully now, but it was 3 1/2 hours labour!!!!
Anyone else had this problem?
