Sorry to beat a dead horse...

but I now have errors 4, 5 and 6 on the M side of the diag screen.
Yesterday I rode approx. 700 miles from Cruso NC to NJ (14 hrs or so) with the damn service triangle on for 90% of the time.
today I tried the delete function again, used the second key, disconnected the battery for a couple of hours, but it does not delete anything.
The bike ran good, through rain and all, but when that triangle appears is a royal pain, since you don't know what it is unless you go through the motions (diag). Mike at MPH gave me some ideas today via email.
And thanks to John Zibell I now know that my engine temp sensor is malfunctioning (and I ordered one today). My lambda sensor may also be out of whack, but I'll wait to install the new engine temp sensor before buying a new oxygen sensor.
There has to be a way to correct this, short of bringing the bike to a dealer, and believe me there are no competent dealers withing a day's ride from me.

Thanks again John. That is exactly what I'm doing and I'm not able to delete the errors in the M column.

I hope you did not buy a new O2 sensor, I have a known good one spare from a parted out Norge, I'll send it to you if you want. If you get my PCV/Auto tune setup out of my Norge a different sensor comes with it anyway.

Dan

I just purchased and installed a new engine temperature sensor.
When John Z. used his VDST to diagnose my bike in NC, the Lambda/O2 sensor was not operating properly. He suggested that it could have been the result of the engine temp sensor not being functional or that the Lambda/O2 sensor was also not operating correctly and should be replaced.

Of course I can't check it out right now, since I removed my ECU to possibly have it re-flashed. What is complicating things a little is that once I re-flash the ECU I would need the VDST to adjust the TPS. I plan to meet Dan in SC at the end of October, but it may not be wise for me to ride all the way there with a re-flashed ECU and no TPS adjustment.....

Thank God for the EV and the Tuono ;)

And yes the same errors still show under the M heading. John Z. tried to delete them with the VDST, but was not able to.

Nick's bike was running very rich as the engine temperature sensor on a cold engine was reading 33 degrees when the ambient temperature was 68 degrees. The rich running may have fouled the lambda sensor (changing voltage every 15 to 20 seconds or so). It may be possible to clean the sensor by heating with a propane torch.
