So, you liked the combination "fake front drum brake + real rear disk brake", huh?

That's the thing about concept bikes, they don't have to production ready, but to provoke thought, ideas and generate interest / feedback. I looked at it in those terms, and whilst there are details I wouldn't put on a bike of my own or ever make production, as a visual concept of something that may lead to a production bike that is similar, I found lots to like about the overall look.

Not quite for me as I did like this.

Ugh! How many parts bins did they empty for that abomination?

I noticed no more wave front rotors..

Do the funky rotors serve a purpose or are they just a styling exercise?

Wave rotors look great IMHO, they weigh less, should not heat up and warp as much as some others, they should be effected less by rain etc than solid rotors and did I say they look great. The weight savings is really not worth mentioning as peeing prior to a ride would likely reduce more weight.

All the best,

Mark

Ever seen rotors warp? If so, please post pics, videos, or other data.... interesting. thanks..

I warped a rear rotor on a Ducati once. We were dynoing the bike (a racebike) and the dyno was a Dynojet drum style dyno without a brake for the drum. After running the bike up you had to let the drum coast back down to a stop. I was tired of waiting and hit the rear brake. The disc instantly glowed red and after cooling down it was warped. Have seen it happen also on non-floating front discs, but most of the "warped disc" issues are not warped discs at all. Often they are a pad build up issue or the float buttons are not letting the rotor float correctly.
The wave rotors are more for look then a functional improvement. Some people seem to think they look better. I don't get that. There are applications were they may offer an advantage over conventional rotors but for a street bike not likely.
To each their own. Give me a set of quality irons discs instead. The wave discs seem to all be made of steel, not iron. I suspect it is a manufacturing thing.
