Hello,

Anyone in or near Temple, Texas that is a Guzzi owner? I've never seen one in this area.

Tim

You're right in the middle of the big city triangle, eh?

Plenty in Houston and Dallas... but I'll be curious to see if any surface here for you.

What Guzzi do you own?

Hello RacerX,

Actually I don't own a Guzzi :(

I have a 2004 Kawasaki Vulcan 1600 Classic I bought new from Woods Fun Center in Austin. I've never ridden a Guzzi, but would like to to see what they are like. For some reason I'm really attracted to the Moto Guzzi motorcycles. I went to the Moto Guzzi rally in Italy last year and really enjoyed it.

If I were to buy one, I'd have to sell my Vulcan first, then find a used Moto Guzzi for around the same price as what I am able to sell my bike for. I just don't know if I can get much of a Guzzi for what I sell my bike for. I have $3000.00 worth of accessories on it, but I don't know if that will demand much beyond low NADA retail. I'm guessing that I might get somewhere between $5500 and $6200 for it, who knows.

I do like the Norge and the Breva 1100, but money wise I think as far as late model Guzzis go, the best I could probably afford would be a 750cc Breva or Nevada. I might be able to find a clean older bike that would work, I've seen a few for sale, but with no experience in the Moto Guzzi product line, it would be hard to know what to look for.

I like the looks, comfort and sound of my bike. What I don't like about it is that it is very heavy, hard to push around in parking lots, hard to handle at low speeds, and does not like to go around curves very fast.

I would like a Guzzi that is lighter than my 725 lb. bike, and easier to handle than my bike. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Tim

A 725 lb. Vulcan eh? Everything will be lighter for you. ;)

If you're patient, you can probably land a Breva 1100 for $5500~6000 (one here in SoCal is around that price right now), or if you like the cruiser style, I *HIGHLY* recommend any of the 2002 California models (solid lifter motors). You'll likely have to deal with crackly engine paint, but they are very solid otherwise. My picture below is aboard one (that has been slightly modified), but even stock they are amazing.

The Haven's (MPH) in Houston would be the go-to guys I'd recommend for you. Ring them up when you are ready if you don't find anything, they might just have something for you.

is this thread still active? lol Better late than never I guess. Me and my gf are in Belton, TX and her Grandfather passed down a 1974 Moto Guzzi 750 Elderado I believe (I was told Guzzi had a shop in Waco back then). We've had the bike a couple of years no and are in the process of rebuilding. Anyone here good with the 4 speed tranny? I've been working on it for awhile and after talking with the guys from Cyclegarden they believe its a shimming problem. Any suggestions help. I have found that Gregory Benders Moto Guzzi site to be very helpful for most everything except in the area of the transmission.

If it really is a 1974, then it would be an 850 Eldorado with a 5 speed transmission. If it is a 750 with a 4 speed, then it is a 1970, or 1971 Ambassador. Check the date of manufacture on the serial number plate on the steering head. If manufacture is after May of 1971 then I would think it is an Edlorado chassis, if you have the 4 speed, someone has switched some parts around in the past

I am down here in Houston. I would highly recommend you call Mike Haven at MPH Cycles before especially since you are in Texas and about 2-3 hours away. They are very talented and knowledgeable on all things Guzzi.

Hey there! I am in Elgin so not too far away from you.
I have a fully restored 1983 V65sp that is amazing to ride.

Blessings! Matt

I live in Austin, but I have family in Temple, so I usually am in that area at least once a month on my 2012 Griso SE
