Recently bought a 2009 stelvio. P.O. lost one set of keys, ok. New key bought and cut. Key fits the seat lock and will turn on the igntion, but will not start the bike, understanding that I must reprogam the key, ok. I down loaded the procedure and followed it. I used the reset code of 10695 and went to the menu and found change keys. Inserted the new key and was asked for the code-10695 was entered. "Incorrect code " flashed on the screen. I was told that if i used the code-00000, I could start the bike, wrong. Micha,at Moto International, suggested using the code-12345. Still not working. The bike does have an alarm system, can this effect the key programing?

Any Ideas? No, I won't sell it cheap, because of this, but it is making me upset. Any help is greatly needed.

I had my Breva for a year before I realized my spare did not start the bike. Luckily I never needed it.

What ever you do don't loose you functioning key. Look in your user's manual or owners manual for complete instructions.

IIRC it goes something like this:

Create and enter a "User Code" of your choosing to your dash. The owner can only replace or add keys once this has been done. Once you have a user code you'll be able to go through the memorization process for new (unrecognized key). You should be getting a message on the dash when you try to start the bike with the new key. Both keys have to be used to complete the process because all keys have to be "memorized". Start with your primary key and follow the instructions. Takes a few minutes. If you don't have a user manual you can download one above.

Good Luck

if you've not got the user code I understand a dealer with Navigator can either reset the code to you choice or code the new key.
I'm getting my new spare done next week.

I could be wrong on this as its not a function I've tried to use but I fear that Navigator will be of no help.

The key coding is recognised by the dashboard and if a new key has to be programmed you need to have the previous owner's user code otherwise key recognition is not possible.

If you have TWO working keys you can change the user code but NOT with one. To the bst of my knowledge Navigator won't allow you to re-set the user code.

You're not wrong Pete :( .........went to dealer today, they said they could recode it, in fact I bought the keys off them last year and this was the first opportunity to get back there with the bike. Anyway an hour so later they came back and said try and contact the previous owner as the Navigator wouldn't do it!

Could be too simple but you mentioned the stelvio has the alarm system? Cant start until alarm is deactivated. Key should have the activate/deactivate button. Turn key to on with the right program and click the key-button
