Hello all

New to this site

Just got a 2007 Norge as a little treat. I need to fit an autocom unit to the bike, can I take the power from the the number plate light or can anyone suggest another ignition live lead. I am going to fit it under the seat at the rear, could I encounter any problems.

thanks

Lee

Plug into the accessory plug under the seat. Or connect to the GPS connector. Stay away from the wiring for the lights. It could cause problems.

Mine is also situated at the back under the seat, I originally powered it from the bike battery tapped into one of the lives on the fuse box, I can't remember which. I am also running a UHF radio set from the battery and I suffered the transmission of a ground loop whine which was quite bad. The radio set is running at 25 watts so powering that from a separate battery is not feasible. I have substituted the supplied standard Autocom power lead for the optional extra suppressed one but it made no difference. I ended up reverting to powering the Autocom from batteries, but instead of the 9v PP3 that can fit inside the unit which didn't last too long, I run it from 8x1.2v 2800mah rechargeable AA type in a clip sat next to the Autocom.

It appears that Guzzi do not suppress the bike electrics to the extent of Honda and BMW. I know people with Pans and RTs that don't suffer this issue.

Does the Autocom not switch itself off when you unplug the rider headset? I have a Starcom which does this, so I don't need to worry about a switched feed.
