hi all- picked up a 2007 griso 1100 a few months ago and enjoying the hell out of it- i've been riding a 77 T3 for some time and it's cool to see/ride what they have evolved into...anyways, i just got a strange error code on the dash of *LD04HZ* with the wrench icon and that is it... coinciding with this, the low beam and turn signals, as well as anything else on the dash do not work, but it did run to get me home...i checked all the obvious fuses/connectors including ecu plugs and all appears in order..any help?

thanx!
tom

That sounds like the weird code you get when the battery has been disconnected. Start by cleaning the connections at the battery and the ground point behind the starter. Also check the fuse holder for the 30 amp fuses. I've seen them give trouble. If it persists, let us know and we can go from there.

thanks for the help John- just finished up about 5 hours of rooting around in there and cleaning up grounds and all is in order...checked all of the fuses and relays too considering that the headlights and turn signals aren't working.

not sure what to do next..i assume i'm going to have to switch out the dash, but not sure if they fail with this code on them or just die. and of course both dealerships in my area are booked until august, so i will def be doing the work myself..

i did notice that the battery terminal negative was loose so battery may have come out of the loop briefly when this happened...is there just something i have to do to reset after bat has been disconnected..i feel like i'm just missing something stupid here..

Headlights only come on with the engine running, but turn signals should work without the engine running. You definitely have some issues here. Check the relays for functionality. Just about everything is now relay controlled. The workshop manual might give you relay identification to function.

Also check that your battery lead connectors are not cracked. With the bend in them, if someone has used the connectors to pull the battery out of the battery box, they may crack at the bend creating a poor connection. Mine were both replaced when I bought my bike because I had intermittent electrical problems.

sorry it took a year to update, but this code does indeed mean that your dash is fried....i wound up switching it out with a used one and bingo, no problems since last june :)
