Noticed a fair error checking my NTX with my GPS. Took it all the way to 160kph and the GPS was showing a full 9 or 10 kph difference. I had this with a Suzuki I bought a few years ago and I had some interesting replies as to why. ie: They are all like that and the company likes to make it seem you are going faster. Or, they do it because the goverment wants you to slow down for whatever reason (safety, fuel conservation?) :? When I bought my F800GS I was relieved to see it was spot on with the GPS. This is not in any way even a small concern but I was wondering if it can be calibrated electronically.

by GPS my NTX speedo reads a steady 2-3 mph higher

Before I mounted the GPS I assumed about a 10mph error as the bike is that smooth at speed (and I came off a KLR)

5% error would be nice

My new 2012 1200 Sport - when the Speedo shows 120Km/hr the GPS reads 105 - thats almos 15% error

121 mph on the bike readout, 113 mph on the satnav, on the autobahrn today.
That was one off, generally being showing 5-6 mph difference when riding around 90 for long periods.
I'll post some photos on the trip when I'm back

Mine has averaged ~4% error, GPS verified between 50 and 70mph...which is more accurate than most of my bikes have been.
As you'd expect, the faster you're going the error is greater, but not by much. I'm impressed.

Most of my bikes have been around 7% optimistic, though the TE 630 is very accurate - never off more than 1mph.
