Hi Guys,

Long time lurker here...

I have a quandry that I am hoping you can help me with. A bunch of years ago (i.e. 5....) I mistakenly attempted to import a 750 Targa into the States. Well, its been at an importer since it arrived in the US. The importer has everything he thought he could to get the bike through customs, but uts a no-go without a $10K brake test. Mind you, these are the same Brembo Brakes as on most Italian Bikes of the era.

Anyway - I am not spending that. I will have the bike sent to Canada and have the engine removed and then the motor and rest of the bike shipped to me separately. That will not help me when it comes to registering it in New York State. So I am looking for some alternatives.

I think that frame on the Targa is the same as the Lario - does anyone know if this is true?

Thanks!

Gersh

I don't have an answer, but I empathize with your plight. Sometimes customs officials can be capricious.

Is it possible to have the bike sent back to the US from Canada, but through a different customs office?

Just an idea.

Joe

I'm not sure either. But if that model year did not have VIN number imprinted into the frame and if you can find a wrecked Lario frame and title, you can transfer the ID tag from the Lario frame. My guess about the frames is that they are probably the same with the differences being the welded tabs on the frame.

good luck and sorry for your customs troubles.

The part numbers of the two frames are different,so I'd be carefull on that approach.

Sorry for your trouble, I have a Targa - and it's a wonderfull bike.

Cheers
