Hi,

I know MG's are not known to be quiet and they have a really characterful sound but recently my Griso has got noisier than it has been. The sound that seems to have become very pronounced sounds like the tappets/pushrods. I have set the valve clearances and this made no difference. I have changed the oil and oil filter. The oil level is fine. I have never had a low oil pressure warning when the engine was running.

Has anyone have the same experience ? Is this normal for Griso's ? The bike has just done 14,000 miles.

Any ideas on trying to analyse the source ?

Thanks for any help

Cheers

On a long shot: A couple years back I had a noticeable "clattering" sound that I couldn't pin down. Pete Roper pointed out the nut on end of main shaft may have been loose. It was  A quick check for tightness can be done with a socket slipped over it (access by removing the black plug in the low - front of engine). Engine off and in gear, left hand depressing rear brake while checking nut for tautness with the wrench ( hold down brake so that tightening nut won't turn shaft and move bike forward)
It honestly could be any number of things including noticing for the first time how noisy our Grisos sing
