Brake light unwanted activation

On a recent group ride a few of the guys said my brake light kept coming on and off.

It seems the front brake lever is activating it when on bumpy roads, and we have lots of those.

The nut and bolt are tight for the lever. The lever does move a bit though.

Has any one else had this problem? Any fixes?
 
Yes - had the same problem on the Stelvio.

Solved it by (carefully) bending the switch activation piece on the lever to give more clearance over the switch
 
Actually - I think the switch is held open by the lever, and closes as the lever moves away from the switch. In which case I would have bent the activation piece to increase pressure when the lever is at rest
 
Funnily enough, somebody just pointed this out on my bike tonight.
If you wobble the lever, the brake light flickers on. I will have to look at this and see how it can be adjusted.
I have the standard levers and the switch appears to be underneath the cylinder.

If you find that it can't be adjusted out and continues to be a problem you could purchase a banjo bolt/pressure switch.

It would probably involve a minor rerouting of the wiring and you need to drain the system down to fit the switch.

Pressure switches are more reliable but the downside is they will only activate after braking has started. I have them on my LM 1000 and like them, but its horses for courses.

Just a suggestion as an alternate option

I have attempted to fix mine today.
The switch and its mounting don't appear to have any scope for adjustment, but I tried loosening the mounting bolt and pushing the switch body in the desired direction while tightening.
My lever does seem to be quite loose - I put this down to when I came off in the past. I tried adding a washer, but I didn't have anything thin enough. I tried pressing the top and bottom of the holder together, but I was reluctant to pressing too hard and risk having to replace the whole unit. I also tried screwing the pivot bolt in as tight as I could, but it is a slot head so that couldn't take much pressure. I all this together doesn't fix it, I can always stick something to the activating surface of the lever.
