I have an A5 engined '09 which has developed a strange intermittent fault recently. The bike starts ok from cold, 1500rpm then 1100 after a few seconds as usual. If left to tick over, after about 60 seconds the revs fall away not quite to stalling - about 7-800 or so, after which it picks up again. So far no real problem.

But if I start again after a brief pause the rh pot cuts out intermittently for a while but then recovers. However, while behaving like a 600 single the dash display splits in half, swaps places and then goes completely blank. There is no dreaded red engine management signal and no error code showing at all. If I turn it off and back on again, the display reappears with no loss of data.

I've changed the plugs (about due anyway) swapped the main fuses around and cleaned the housing, also checked the battery leads, cleaned and re-tightened. This worked for about 300 miles until it reappeared yesterday.

Hope this is easy, guys...

Spark plug boots Swap them with NGK-SB05E units. Best answer I can give you the tip off is the dash doing weird stuff. The OEM's are crap and probably got damaged by someone ham fisting them off

Notasweetman, I had the same problem with my Stelvio. I changed the plug wires and boots. The bike runs better than ever.
I did not use the NGK plug boots. I am using the Accel Super Stock 8MM wire with molded boots. The boots are silcone and the wire is much thicker, also the wire will suppress any electrical noise from the igniton.

Just my two cents worth. Good Luck

Went to plugcapsRus (Amazon), got plugcaps, fitted plugcaps, went for ride, got wet, not got an electrical any more.

(Bloody hell, that left HT lead is short!!!)

Many thanks for advice, guys.
