Death Valley Get-Together - Nov. 2-4th

Re: Death Valley Get-Together - Sep. 28-30th

Hey Todd, I would love to go under better conditions. I'm not against riding in triple digit temps ... as long as I'm moving

Re: Death Valley Get-Together - Sep. 28-30th

We need to make a decision. If too many are bailing I want to get my expensive room cancelled.

Who's still in?

Keith

Re: Death Valley Get-Together - Sep. 28-30th

Keith, let's postpone to a later/cooler date. Sound good? Post below on what date(s) work best for you?

Re: Death Valley Get-Together - Sep. 28-30th

Ok, I'll cancel the reservations. As for new date, looks like 11/10-11, 11/18-19, 12/15-16, or maybe in the spring sometime.

Keith

Keith, et al... the new dates (not picked by me) are Nov. 2-4th.
Hope all can make it... there is also a Facebook page started HERE.

Sound off below.

I love Death Valley, would love to go even without an on/off road bike, though I'm out last 2 weekends in Sept. FYI, per accuweather average daily highs there in Sept are 100 or more, down to mid 80's by end of Oct. You guys camp, or stay where? Furnace Creek, Beatty?

Hey Bob, I'm going to take the "Trail Rated" EV so you will not be alone. The above post mentions staying at Furnace Creek Resort.

I came up with the new dates and created the facebook page Todd linked to. Just wanted to mention that everyone's welcome. This is one week later than we went two years ago, and the weather then was great. Hopefully it will be good this year too, both getting there and in the park. Join us if you can and we'll see you there.

For those like me having trouble accessing the facebook page, here's Glenn's original e-mail below. I've booked my cabin:

I’m “organizing,” or rather announcing, a ride to Death Valley the first weekend in November. Todd Eagan organized one a couple of years ago that was great, and I’ve been wanting to go back ever since. In fact, Todd and company were planning to go last weekend, but it was too hot. Weather should be good in early November, though you never know.
I’m calling this the Death Valley NEANAR – the Not-Even-A-Not-A-Rally. That’s how casual and unplanned it is.
I just booked a cabin at Furnace Creek Ranch for Friday and Saturday, Nov. 2 & 3. They also have motel rooms but the cabins are nicer if you can get one cause you can park your bike by the porch. They're cheaper too.
Here’s the web site: http://www.furnacecreekresort.com (PS you can also book at 800 236 7916. Plus there is an AAA rate, save 10%. Bob for Glenn)
You want to select the Ranch at Furnace Creek unless you’d rather stay at the very fancy Inn.
There’s a 2 day cancellation policy, which is reasonable. If the weather turns out to be horrible, I’m sure we’ll all bail.
We’ll do some riding around Death Valley on Saturday, including a recommended early morning trip to Dante’s Peak. But it’s all unplanned and optional at this point. Maybe Scotty’s Castle. There are a couple of restaurants there at the Ranch so you don’t have to ride anywhere for food once you get there. There’s also gas at the Ranch. It’s ground zero for the DV National Park.
By the way, the motel at Stovepipe Wells is now under different management, but it’s sold out for the weekend.
I may have mentioned an earlier weekend in October to some of you, but everything is essentially sold out then, so I moved it one week later. The only disadvantage, I think, is lack of daylight savings time.
Let me know if you think you might come. Again, there’s no head count or anything official, but I’m curious as to who might show up, so we don’t miss each other. This is sort of nominally a Guzzi thing, but it really doesn’t matter. Also let me know if you're looking for a roommate, and I'll try and hook people up.
I’m going to ride up from LA on Friday afternoon, Nov. 2. Return Sunday Nov 4.

I’m going to create a facebook event too

Hope to see you there!

Glenn

Just tried to grab a cabin and they are sold out. Only the motel towards the back is left, just FYI.

Guess I must have gotten lucky & scored one of the last cabins. Just in case the Furnace Creek Ranch motel rooms fill up, or for those wanting a more economical option, I just checked Stagecoach Inn & Casino in Beatty NV, about 45 miles (and 3000' higher) from Furnace Creek. They said they were only about half full, which should mean they have like 40 rooms available. Their rates are $59-79 per night depending-or about 1/2 or less what you will pay at Furnace Creek Ranch. Call 800-424-4946. I've stayed there a number of times, plenty good enough for the area.

Passed by Guzzibob on ACH mid last week and he was nice enough to turn around to figure out who stole Rich's Jackal :D . Had thought this gathering took place already (was out of country, hadn't checked here) but glad to find out it's be delayed.

I like to join and got a cabin confirmed. It's a double so have another queen in case someone needs a spot.

Should be good to go Friday morning so can head up with others from So Cal if interested.

Todd, if you're going, please bring a medium MDKGRYSS, or whatever medium you grab. Pay ya when I see ya.
