I bought A 2009 Stelvio used. While the bike has been outstanding one thing has bothered me since day one. The MotoGuzzi Alarm is a royal PITA. Bottom line how can I remove it? Is their a site that can show me how to remove this unit? Any input will be welcomed.

Thanks

I have a 2009 I bought new, and have never noticed a Moto Guzzi Alarm on my bike.

What is it and how do you know if you have one?

+1. I have an '09 as well, and it is not equipped with any kind of alarm as far as I am aware. This must have been some aftermarket device.

Moto Guzzi has developed this inertial anti-theft system in collaboration with market leader Metasystem, in accordance
with the strictest standards. The bikes electrical system already incorporates provision for the installation of this system.
All that is needed to obtain a safe and effective anti-theft system is to connect the alarm control unit to the relevant
connector and fi x itself to the dedicated bracket.
Note: No additional installation kit needed

So all you need to do is follow the wire from the alarm unit and disconnect it.

stelvio alarm mounts on lhs of fairing bracket.
remove lhs tank panel and it is forward of the fuel tank . not done one but should unplug ??????you might need a dummy plug to go in to make some connections ??? oherwise may not run ??? suck it and see .

Thanks to everyone that replied. The unit is the original Moto Guzzi alarm. Should I contact a dealer for a dummy plug? Does anyone have a wiring diagram for this unit?

Thanks in advance.

I could not open this link, but the one I did check indicates the Stelvio comes pre-wired to accept an alarm. The alarm itself is not installed at the factory. It is an option.

Bruce

Yes, I know this. The link works. The PDF shows it as a factory accessory, not an aftermarket one. That was what I was conveying.

Easy as to remove the alarm unit:
- disconnect each of the connectors in the loom, one by one;
- often they fit in the middle of other things;
- notable intrusions are:
- Fuel pump gauge assy;
- Starter circuit;
- Dash;
- Picks up power from numberplate light or maybe on the Stelvio from parking light;
- Interferes in the blinker signals - these indicate alarm on/off;

When removing a plug/socket connection on the alarm side, there will be a corresponding plug/socket pair that must be connected - this is the intrusion I was referring to above. Do them one at a time and you should not have any issues.

Understood. The link problem is probably an iPad issue. These things are pretty good, but they sure aren't perfect. :lol:

Why do you say it's a PITA?
