So I dropped this bike on some loose road doing a uturn, the cylinder head cover is banged up but the bike is running good. What should I buy to prevent that from being hit? I used this forums search to look up frame sliders but no results came up.

A small amount of oil was on the cylinder head cover around those hex screws. Doesn't seem to be leaking.

1100 or 1200?

If 1100, there's a few simple, not too expensive options (like shown below)... if it's a 1200, I only recommend crash bars, as the valve cover bolts to the rocker assemblies, so even a minor tip over could mean serious damage.

it is a 1200.

Where can I get some crash bars? Also is there any signs that i've done serious damage? Like I said the bike seems to run fine at the moment.

ride it like you stole it, I personally don't like frame and sliders, they detract from a beautiful bike, but then, I guess that's an individual choice. Its a motorbike, sometimes they fall over, touch wood I haven't dropped one for years

Well my riding skills leave much to be desired lol. I want some protection so I can learn by riding it like i stole it then take it off when i'm more comfortable with my skills.

Do a search on this Forum for crash bars. You'll see the reports about the Stucchi (not too good), or more preferred ones from Hepco-Becker. I've been threatening to do a version to offer up to the group here... if there is enough interest. One or two isn't enough. 12 or so would make it worth the time investment.

I'd be interested is a set, and I'm sure we could find a dizzy dozen Griso owners willing to provide investment capital and serve as guinea pigs.

I found that the Hepco-Becker bars were sold near locally, picked them up and will be installing tomorrow. Thanks for suggestion.

They seem strong, solid, and will do the job well.

I put the Hepco-Beckers on my Breva 1100 a few months ago. The first side went on easily, but the second took about 45 minutes because I couldn't get the bolt hole to align. Ended up jacking up the sump, rolling off the centre stand and moving the bike about, etc. Eventually got it on. Quality product.

Todd,

I would be interested in a set of GT Crash bars for my G12 if they look good. In all the pics I've seen of Griso's with the Hepco Becker bars they look like after-thoughts. Ugly after-thoughts. The Stucchi ones for the G11 look good and I'm undecided about the Stucchi G12 units.

Yes, I installed it and it's not the most attractive piece but it looks like it will do it's job.

One of the footpegs got bent during this, looking for an aftermarket replacement i can only find lowered footpegs. Is there any others that I could pick up to replace the stock?

OK, this must be at least the 3rd time that Todd has offered to put his brains and skill into this...
It's now time for all Griso 8V owners in here with fully functioning cojones to stand up and be counted!

Todd, I would be interested also. Must be difficult to come up with something like this since tastes on what looks good differ a bit. For me, protection is first - looks are second.
