I think i need new front brake rotors for my Le Mans 3. Their thickness varies around the 4.5mm to 5mm mark and they are quite heavily grooved.

Has anyone bought and used replacement brake disc rotors from Metalgear? They seem to manufacture replacement rotors for my Le Mans 3 (and other models) to what seems like original specification. If so, how do you rate them?

I have found other alternatives too, made of stainless steel in some cases, but what's confusing is their thickness. Some state a thickness when new of 5mm and a min thickness of 4.5mm. Stamped on my disc carrier is MIN thickness of 5.8mm.

The alternative is sourcing the original or re-pop rotors that are available that come supplied with the carrier included. I'm just wondering about the alternatives from Metalgear and the others who supply the rotor only as these are somewhat cheaper (not much) and, as they are rotor only, are therefore lighter and less bulky- i'd assume cheaper postage.

Yes, recommended. I got a stainless set for my LM3. Also get matching pads from them as for best performance stainless need a different compound to iron. Tell them how you use the bike and what characteristic you want from the pad (e.g. good bite from cold) and they'll send the best pad for the job

If you're not a professional bike tech they may want you to send your carriers for them to fit the discs to. This is mainly to ensure the discs are fitted correctly and true to the carriers. They insist on it for bikes that have the discs riveted on (i.e. Ducati bevel) but the LM3 uses bolts. I had mine fitted by a workshop while the bike was in for a general service, They had the equipment to ensure trueness
