Kill switch on 2000Jackal

Hi all,

I haven't been able to start my bike and the kill switch seems to be a good possibility so, I took the housing apart and saw the little silver ball and a very small spring just laying in a groove or indention that is on the underside of the actual red plastic switch. Anyone know what they do and where i saw them, is that their real home. Anywhere to go online to possibly get a look at a detail of this type of switch? Thank you for your help.
Am a newbie Guzzi owner so the more basic the better;0)
