Hi,
I am planning on buying a used 2012 moto guzzi griso with 1200 miles on it. I am wondering if I am able to register it in CA . As per dmv it says either the bike should have more than 7500 miles or it should have 50 state certified.
http://dmv.ca.gov/pubs/brochures/fast_facts/ffvr29.htm.
is 2012 moto guzzi griso 8v a 50 state certified for emissions and where can I find the emissions sticker on the bike.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thank you

All Guzzi's currently sold in the US are 50 state legal. They do not offer California and 49 state versions. There is only one version and it is 50 state legal.
You may need to be sure the previous owner has not removed the evap canister as is common to do. The stock exhaust has a cat in it. Some of the aftermarket replacements also have a cat.

California only wants to see the Certification sticker, nothing else, nor do they seem to look or care about any modifications. Hopefully someone will chime in as to where the sticker is.

Has the location. of the 50-state cert plaque/sticker been determined yet? I can't get the Owners Manual to download, and I'd like to do dit before I bering my bike home to CA.

Bikeless no more - well, almost... :)

Hi Bikeless

Have you joined the local norcal guzzi user group? If you came to the monthly dinner you can request before hand that another Griso owner show up and so that you can see for yourself.

http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/norcalguzzisti/?prop=eupdate

Also , you can get the manual over at AF1Racing.com, don't know if it'll tell you where the sticker goes.

Also, check with Monroe Motors, SF or CA Speed Sports, Livermore and see if they still have a Griso on the floor.

There were 3 more dealers in the area just a few years ago :(

The information we have shows the emissions label (which covers both California and 49 state compliance) is located below the gas tank, midway between the front of the seat and the fuel filler bezel. It is unclear from the diagram whether it is on the tank or on some component beneath it.
