Hi

Has anyone replaced a shift return spring with the gearbox in-place? Or does the transmission just have to come out to get get the cover off and on? If it's a home job, any tips tor ricks to do this at home? Can't seem to find any step by step guide for a 5 speed 850 T3?

Cheers
Angelo

Gearbox out. Search this site for Pete Roper's reshimming guide (which you should do while it's apart) which will give you the low down

Aye Gearbox oot! I read somewhere (never tried it) that you can get the endcase off with the box in place BUT not back on.

You can crab the frame i.e. not take the engine gearbox out and still do it.

Pete's gearbox article here

My less techie but step by step (to fit in with my general level of intelligence) guide here

Hope they are of some use

Was really hoping for a miracle!

I knew the answer but couldn't come to terms with it now having a $10 spring replacment and a day or more labour. Don't have the space to do the work anymore myself.

All part of Guzzi ownership which I wouldn't have any other way!,

As always tthanks boys for the quick responce and back on the road soon.

Cheers

Understand the resignation and suppressed frustration.
Been there done that on my 750S3. Weeks of (part time) work for a $6.99 part.

Upside : clean, replace, tighten, polish, refresh. She'll like that.

Good luck
Luca
