Hello,

I just got a 2008 Breva 750. I am glad to find this forum and hope to contribute. I just did a full service on it as a starting point and was pleased to see how easy it is to work on a Breva. I did order a Breva windscreen from MGCYCLE but are there other options there for a taller screen? I changed all fluids and its runs great. What is the best slip on muffler option out there and do I need a Power Commander in order to do a muffler change? Thanks all.

Congratulations to the Breva; I really do hope you got one of the faster red ones. :woohoo:

At the beginning of my Breva-ownership I tried a lot of different screens, spoilers and more.
It all ended up with a cut-down original flyscreen, as anything else just induced a lot of turbulence and helmet-noise.
And taking the wind will just make you stronger... :side:

Anders,

Cutting an original screen sounds good, as none of the commercial screens are exactly what I want.

How did you do it? What issues did your find?

Particularly, how did you end up with a smooth, well finished product?

Joe

I just ordered the Screen from mgcycle. Should arrive next week. I did not get the red fast one, only the black faster one. Wait, fast and Breva in same sentence? Nah.....I got the black comfy one. And, I was able to drain the tranny and replace the plug without removing the cat....lots of cussing though..

Taped the screen with painters tape, lined it up by hand and used an electric jigsaw with medium cut teeth, as I remember. No sweat at all. Polished the cut with a file and some emery cloth, then car polish. Was even approved by German police at a checkpoint....

I'm not really sure I do like the looks of the screen, but it offers some protection for the dasboard at least  - and I got rid of buffeting!

Use it as a billboard, as you can see. At some point the screen will be disposable.

Mine has a factory accessory touring screen:

I use this bike for daily commuting, including a highway section with a 90km/h (55MPH) speed limit. I've never tried it without the screen because it was on the bike when I bought it. There is some noise, but I am unsure if the screen is causing it. There are no other vices like wobbles or instability in crosswinds.

Just like mine except for the topcase.
I am in the market for a rack and topcase.Which would you recommend?

Hello all, I've had my '07 Breva 750 for a year now and I want to change the oil but I see contradictory information in the owners manual. On page 53, it says to "use high quality 5W-40 oil, see page 85" and on page 85 it says "recommended engile oil Agip Racing 4T 10W60". So which is it? Anyone know?

Use the higher viscosity. When we had one I used Mobil 1 15W50 which seemed to do well. If you have access to the 10W60, then use that.

One thing is certain !
If you put on a big screen, and hit a headwind, you will probably stall !
I have the factory screen, and on touring the USA backroads, where you can only buy that agricultural fuel, I got beaten down to about 50 mph.
For the Breva 750, you should use the highest octane you can get.
Ok I have never tried those octane boosters, as was suggested , in an earlier thread, but in future I will make sure I have loads of that, in my saddle bags .
As regards oil, heck its a 750 Guzzi.
Yes the recently introduced 10 - 60 is the bees knees, but , as its only a 750, in a pinch, the old standby Castrol 20 50 which has functioned for years, will do an excellent job. My 2006 Breva 750, has done around 79 000 miles, with one IBA and two attempted Insanity 1600,s . First 1600 got foiled by Nebraska closing all of one side of I 80 for repairs, so I 80 was reduced to a 2 lane road doing about 45 mph. ok I did 1620 miles, but thanks to Nebraska, took 27 hrs 12 mins.

Second Insanity 1600 , got stopped by a State Trooper road block , ordering everyone to leave I 80, and seek shelter , due to an approaching dangerous hail storm.
Bugger ! Oh well, Next time !

Once Again Todd, Thanks for all your help ! You are brilliant !
Yes Im late this year, but on the 13th I leave the boat in Las Palmas & fly to England, where I supposedly am having a cataract op on my left eye.
Once everything is back to normal, I will be on the road again, mebbe late August.
Lookin fwd to seeing you again .
Cheers
Jan
