Will this speedo work in a '98 EV?

the tach is electronic, the speedo on an EV is driven by a cable, dude.
 
Perhaps it could, but unless your EV speedo was completely destroyed, why not have it repaired?
 
The old blue face Vaglias are as reliable as a hammer. Cable driven. I've never had a 98 EV, but I'm pretty sure it's cable driven, too.

at one time yes. The speedomer only going to 80 is called a Joan Claybrook speedometer. She was Secretary of Transportation and felt that there is no reason to go that fast and mandated that speedometer read no higher than 80. Also for a time, the US had a 55 mph speed limit on all interstates. Thankfully all that silliness is over.
