guess this road......

Looks like the Lockwood-San Lucas Rd just south of King City.

I was just near there, took Jolon Rd then San Lucas Rd. to King City. Lockwood- SLucas looks better, darn gotta go back. :(

The flora, and chip coat on the AC paving looks exactly the same.

At least part of this will be easy enough. But, what's the road?

You got it! Was there with CW Mag for a future Sport Touring Shoot out.

I'm guessing that it's the road out of Leadhills, been there once a few years ago.

That's not a bad guess at all (the roads near Leadhills do look quite similar to this one), but this is B743, just north of Muirkirk.

It's a famous one.
the road is striped the French way. Are we in France? (which hardly narrows it down)
Correct!

Ah. Bicycles on the road. A clue. The closest I've been to L'Alpe d'Huez is Briançon, and that's hardly the same neighborhood. I need to mark this on a map for the next time I'm in the area.

Here's something different. It's a road, albeit a railroad. Anyway, this will be familiar to anybody who has been to one of the more popular Guzzi campfire events:

L'Alpe d'Huez it is. Daniel, you're too good at this game!

This 'spectacular' road

is close to this, which should give you a clue

Second part of the question; what's this place famous for?

This will likely be my last post, I've just sold the LM1 and may be giving bikes away for good. Thanks for being such a good, well mannered (for the most part) forum, a rarity on the inter web

All right then

It's the N5 on the outskirts of Morez in France. It's the spectacles capital of the world hence 'spectacular' road. We were heading from Briançon to Besançon.

Cheerio, it's been fun

Ah; I've been there! Here's what it looked like on that cold and foggy morning in 2007:

It's New Abbey, Scotland.

Back to this side of the Atlantic, try this:

Lord knows, if you rode an hour in any direction, things wouldn't look that much different than this photograph. Name this road:
