Contemplating a Griso

Thanks, I will look into the suspension this weekend.

I agree that it looks great in person. I was a little surprised at how loud the stock pipe is- compared to stock on my Bonneville, which sounds like a sewing machine, it's a deep, guttural roar!

This morning I went out to my Griso for the first time since riding it home, thumbed the starter button, and...nothing.

Tried every conceivable combination of gear, clutch and side stand...nothing.

Left the battery tender on for a half hour to bump starting voltage...nothing.

Had my iPad Mini with me, so googled "Griso won't start." Jiggled the kill switch a few times on someone's posted advice. Vroom!

Left the kill switch in 'run' position all day, no issues at all. Stopped and started multiple times, used the key to turn it off.

Going to do some more googling to see if there's a fix. Don't 100% need the kill switch, but it's annoying to have a problem like this on a brand new bike.

As far as i know the kill switch is an emergency stop. I never use it to stop the engine, and maybe beacause the switch is new the contacts didn't function the first time.

Have fun with the bike

Small electrical parts, kill switch example, are not made by the bike manufacturer and are common to other brands besides Guzzi. Personally I don't shut bike down with the kill switch, I cycle the ignition key for start and stop.

I'm thankful we have a normal ignition key instead of a keyless ignition like Kawasaki KiPass or the system used on Ducati. Not much goes wrong with the simple keyed switch. Those other systems have left owners unable to start the bike.

It's not likely you will have this occurrence again, just note it on your first service and have it checked.

Enjoy the bike...

Yeah, it's interesting- there seem to be different camps on kill switch vs. key. I've typically used the kill switch because its convenient- I can thumb the bike 'off' with both hands on the bars. It's no big deal to switch to key only, just need to break the habit.

I'm used to balky switch gear on Guzzis and other bikes, so it's more of an annoyance, as I mentioned, than an issue.

I am, in fact, loving the bike- it's a blast to ride and it's a head turner, as others have posted. Very happy with my purchase.

One question- the manual, and the dashboard, suggests I set a pin code for the keys. The dealer said nobody does that. Any input on that?

Nobody does that.

Unless you have it tattooed someplace, you'll forget it, and the dealer and/or next owner will despise you for it.

OK, I won't do that! Thanks.

BTW, my Ducati Monster owning brother got a peek at the Griso today and now is suffering from "Italian Bike Envy." :p

Ouch. That's the worst kind. Only cure is to buy one of his own.
