Done 1000 miles no problems, pulled in for fuel and bike will not start. Turn key, cycles up, all lights working, full dash function. Press starter, nothing, no click, no noise, no start. Pushed off, ran great, stop turn off turn on, no start. Only thing is the rear lights are flickering, mostly when I go over bumpy ground, so says steve who is at the rear.

Is there a relay that is connected to a circuit that has something to do with the rear light and the start system?

Pretty desperate, have 1000 more miles to do at least.

Cheers

Check your connections at the battery. Make sure they are tight and clean and try again. Also check the ground to the starter for the same issue. The flickering lights may be a red hering at this point.

Bloody little 15 amp fuses :-/ the mimi spade/blade fuse had blown, the one in the nose fairing, closest to rider, right hand fuse. Swapped for new, good job I had some with me, and it's all go :)

Been to switzerland this morning, managed to ride around the storms and catch some sun, off to Italy tomorrow, going over Grand st. Bernard Pass.

Checked all that and more, found the problem. Thank you for your print reply :)

Common fault on all CARC Guzzis. See the startus interruptus thread. That 15A fuse covers the rear light, front side lights and starter solenoid current.
Get yourself a length of wire - it might well do it again - and if it does, connect one end to the battery positive and hold the other onto the spade terminal on the solenoid. Or with the ignition turned on, short between the large top terminal on the solenoid and the spade terminal.
Long term, do the mod suggested in that thread.
