Good Omen?
As I leave the office in the Isle of Man this afternoon for ten days, heading over to via France to Switzerland/Italy, and back via Germany to do a few of the mountain passes, including the Stelvio, I noticed this morning that the odometer is reading "8888". A good omen, maybe? [the Chinese believe the number 8 is lucky]. Maybe I should pick up a lottery ticket today too?
I was hoping to get away today to meet some of you in Wales en-route, but too busy unfortunately.
cheers,

As you leave the office in the Isle of Man? Bastardo!
And I mean that in a good way. :p :p :p

Made it... :)

Oh Drool. I would love to ride that road. It will probably never happen but a guy can dream.

Good Job.

We only did the Stelvio once.. down one day, back up the next. Too little time too many passes - we also did the Furka, Grimsel, Fluela, Fuorn, Umbrail(x2), Ofen, Foscagno, Oberalp, and Garvia passes as well (I've probably missed a couple). Links to most of these are listed here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Principal_ ... f_the_Alps. We hightailed it out of Switzerland on Thursday afternoon as rain set in, and have spent today buzzing :woohoo: around the Black Forest region in Germany. Starting the journey back tomorrow, probably via Belgium to Rotterdam, then a ferry back to Hull. We've had a great week, and I'd recommend it to anyone.

I'll post some more photos later, if anyone interested. The MG Stelvio NTX just loves these passes - hauling me, stuffed panniers, top-box and tank bag, it just ate them for breakfast - simply brilliant. And yet, I didn't see another Stelvio on the trip - let alone another Moto Guzzi. The Stelvio with its great looks and sound however, always attracts attention and questions wherever it's parked. :D

Sounds like a great trip. The wife and I are hoping to go to the factory in Mandello del Lario next year on the Stelvio, and we will try to fit in the Stelvio pass while we are there.Done a few of the others in previous years, the alps are simply stunning on a motorbike.Have to watch the weather mind.I think it was the Furka pass where we started in sunshine, which turned to rain as we climbed, then snow near the top, then all in reverse as we descended! Great place.

Cos they were all in Wales last week and making their way home :D :D :D

The only Stelvios I have ever seen in Italy were at the Guzzi factory in 2008. On my trip to the alps and dolomites last year I hardly saw any type of Moto Guzzi.....bizarre :S

Didn't saw much anything like that there, just a gray screen of rain. Maybe that was just a special warm /NOT/ welcome for me though at 10C.
