Breva 750 Front Wheel Removal

Hi All

To remove the front wheel, the axle obviously needs to be withdrawn. I see a large hex fitting on the right side , which I assume you use to unscrew the axle. Are there any cinch bolts that need to be backed off prior to unscrewing the axle? I notice the bottom of each fork leg has an opening. Anything to be undone in there? Is the axle threaded with a right or left hand thread? I,m assuming right hand as the wheel turning would tend to tighten the axle.

: can only speak from a BREVA 110, but, the hex nut is a RH thread and two cinch bolts need to be loosened on the left hand fork. I can't remember if the RH fork has them also. When you are putting it all back, don't go Rambo with the cinch bolts.

The workshop manual can be found here http://www.guzzitek.org/gb/ma_us_uk/pb/ ... 8GB%29.pdf For for disassembly, there is only one line. Remove the front wheel.

That said. Look at the darn thing. If you see pinch bolts, loosen them. Better yet, if it hasn't been done, remove them and coat with an anti seize compound. As for the hole up the center, that is how the rod is fastened to the slider. Guzzi at one time wrote good owner's manuals. They contained this type of instruction. Unfortunately they don't write good manuals any more.
 
On the 750 the two pinch bolts are on the right side. The axle is unscrewed with the "axle removal tool" that came with your tool kit, and a wrench to turn it. It's actually just a short length of 14mm hex, and you could also use a 14 mm allen wrench with a cheater bar.

I made some axle removal tools from aluminum hex stock. This is to help lighten my on-board tool kit.
 
Thanks for the help. The pinch bolts are on the back side of the right fork leg. I wouldn't have asked if I had seen them before. I hadn't thought to look from that side.
