hi folks.
Im thinking of fitting a pair pod filters to my 1100 sport inj. Does anyone have any advice on which specific models to fit and how to fit them, ie do they go straight onto the injector bodies or onto the intake trumpets?

Personally, I'm not a big fan of pods on injected bikes. The 1100 sport has a well designed airbox. You should be able to get more air into the engine with the airbox than with the pods. I'd go the K&N insert first for the airbox and give it a try.

RU0810 fits on the stacks and in the frame good. RU0510 also fits with some heat applied. There are a TON of arguments about airbox vs pods, either way you will not ride any faster or slower. Most people like the cosmetics of taking the airbox out, the Spine Frames look really cool when you can see them. Also makes for easier maintenance and shock adjustment.

HAVE FUN DO WHAT YOU WANT TO DO

I agree that a drilled or cut airbox with large K & N makes better midrange than pods, but am happy to use pods because of the reasons stated by fader.

If you are going to fit them, go for biggies and seat them as far back as possible from the injectors.

Soundtrack is much better even if you lose a horsepower somewhere.

I have a2002/3 VII and replaced the lid on the air filter with a FBF top filter. Does everyting thing that you should want. Easy to clean, More air, same volume, louder air induction.
Value for money, try that first.

One thing regard to the removal of the air box that you should be aware of also is that with that gone, so is a great deal of the rear mudguard... No joke...!

The stock air box is huge and makes up the section that both covers the shock and forms the upper, inner fender/mudguard so that when you ride in anything other than real nice weather, the pretty Sporti will not be so pretty.

Because I have others to ride, I only use the Sporti when I know the weather is perfect and no chance of rain and I know it will not get filthy.

Just sayin'... I do agree that seeing the frame is way cool and I have done that to mine... :)

Best,
Rob

You're right Rob, it does get dirtier. That's why on my own SportI I fabbed a shield out of rubber sheet that fits in that area and around the shock.

I recently fitted RU-1780 and red prechargers (RU-0510PR). The 1780's have an angled 2.5" flange and barely fits.

I already had a drilled lid and OEM-style K&N filter but this is so much better looking and it also sounds better (for unknown reason). Hopefully my hugger will take care of most of the dirt.

I'm longing for spring now. In the meantime, my rims are being powder coated and a Centauro gearbox will be fitted this weekend.

The rear light and indicator lenses are aftermarket stuff for Ducatis that use the same OEM parts. Lots of stuff to choose from. The center stand is not produced anymore I'm afraid, I got the last one TLM had. I really hated not having one. Next track day I'll remove the side stand and keep the center stand, it doesn't drag! Weight? Hey it's a Guzzi, it's supposed to be heavy :p
