Just went through an issue with my OEM battery. Thought I would throw it out here and see if anyone else has had the same thing. I listed this on another site and there were a couple of people who did. I kept finding the positive post and connector heavily coated with corrosive build up. Once even caused the bike to not start. Finally removed the battery for cleaning and inspection to find that it was actually leaking at the post area. Very small leak but enough to make a mess. As a side issue I also found that the battery holder box drain tube nipple had been broken off when it was installed, the drain tube itself had come in contact with the exhaust header and was melted shut. I have replaced the battery and drain tube fixing the connection as best I can until a new box arrives. If you are having trouble keeping the positive post and connectors clean you may want to take a close look at the area for possible leaking.
 
I had it on my new NTX & from other posts elsewhere it appears quite common

I cleaned and used dielectric grease the first 2 times and it kept coming back. Asked Mike at MPH and he told me to re-clean and use vaseline

I assume it's got something to do with the way AGM battery s vent, as these are good quality 'Yausa batterys
 
Yes it has happened to me twice with the same battery 4 years apart (still running the original battery in my 2006 1100 Breva). Embarrassing but not fatal.
 
I'm experiencing the same issue; positive post is heavily coated with corrosive build up.
Haven't had a vehicle with this problem in over 20 years. :(

Anyway; It tried using those felt pads that are meant to prevent this corrosion.
But they did not help at all.
So now I'm trying the vaseline trick.
If that does not work; then next step will probably be a new battery.
 
Most GOOD auto parts stores carry a spray lube for the terminals that will neutralize any acid. I give my terminals a little shot about once a year and never see any corrosion.
 
Try cleaning the posts and immediate area with 200 ml warm water with a teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda dissolved. Dry the lot and slight smear with Vaseline. Cheers from Blue in sunny Brisbane (Oz).
 
I have heard of three cracked battery cases on Stelvios, my own bike being one. Watch out for an acid leak on the floor under the bike...maybe only a drop or two. My battery was replaced under warranty. Prior to the dealer seeing the cracked case I had noticed corrosion on the + terminal and cleaned it prior to a trip. I'm guessing that the crack was allowing acid vapor to cause the corrosion.

On these batteries it is not the usual visible corrosion. The lead under the lead turns black and stops conducting. Lead Sulphate is a black compound. Ask anyone with a white house (lead based paint) near a paper mill.
