I just found out that Piaggio is going to be announcing a new Moto Guzzi dealer in the Montreal region that runs three bike shops. The shop is run by - how appropriate - and Italian father/son team! It appears as though the dealer may have already carried the Piaggio scooter and Apirlia motorcycle lines given the website and have just agreed to pick up the Guzzi line, but I'm not sure. Nevertheless, the three Montreal shops should give Moto Guzzi significant exposure in the city. Hopefully Guzzi will expand its lineup in Canada as they only sell the Griso and V7 Cafe for 2010 (although I heard the Stelvio is on tap for 2011 which is good because the owner of the last Guzzi dealer told me the Stelvio and Norge were his best seling models).

Best of luck!

Thanks for the heads-up Cory.
I have spoken to them for Derbi parts and had asked about Guzzi. He said at the time they were working something out, they would have news shortly. Glad it worked out.
I don't have any information about their service/parts departments but they are a well known and long time dealership and have carried Guzzi before.

I decided to go see the dealer closest to home.

First off the sales person didn’t know that they were getting the Moto Guzzi line.
I ended up talking to the General Manager for a while ……
He said the West Island branch will be able to service the bike and order parts for Guzzi but basically the South Shore will be the main branch that will carry the bikes. Maybe that’s why the sales weren’t informed?
It seemed the GM wasn’t too enthusiastic to carry the line ……

I slipped him the problematic that we have with the gas paint peel ….. right there and then he said I doubt Guzzi is going to replace it! (in the past Yamaha, Kawasaki wouldn’t replace some thing like this)
Well that turned me off !!!!!
Instead of ....... let’s see what the problem is, let me run this by Piaggio, come back when we have shop setup we'll take a look.
He took a look at the Stelvio ...... politely I asked him for his business card and left.

My first impression was …… well what do you think? :? :(

Given it's not the main Guzzi store I wonder if they'll even bother to send the mechanic for proper training. Somehow I doubt it, meaning they'll probably fuck with the Sacred Screw like the useless mechanic at the local Guzzi dealer here in Ottawa.

Yep - that's why some people go places in life and why others don't. I'd skip the grunts and call Franco or Anthony direct as they have a vested interested in keeping you happy so you spread the good word. The GM just gets his bi-weekly paycheque whether you are a satisfied customer or not.

Man, this is getting depressing! :(
Bruce

Actually Bruce its getting better ...... I just went to the second branch (Lasalle) where one of the owners (Anthony) works?
This place looks and smells like a mechanic shop .... my kind of place! :D
The shop doesn't have all the bells and whisles like the other and the sales person knew what he was talking about.
Like Cory said ..... "gotta skip the grunts"

They contacted the South Shore talked to the other owner (Frank) and got an answer right away .... next week they are getting the equipment to officially open up for buisness...... Ya!!!!
They will be able to service, repair and sell Guzzis.

My last stop is the South Shore .....

Now that's more like it! Let's hope they have the same dedication and knowledge as the previous Mtl Dealer cause where I'm at right now (Ottawa) it's like the desert. I don't mind doing 500 klicks (turn around)to get proper service if needs be though I do all my own now that the warranty is out.

Its unfortunate, that we really don't have much support here in Ottawa or even Montreal. I guess guzzi really isn't interested in pushing forward in these markets.

For what it's worth, more than 2 months after e-mailing Piaggio Americas thay replied recommending me getting my Norge serviced at that new dealer in Mtl.
Dan, he's close to you in Pierrefond. Have you had a look there?

Ya ....he's the first one I visited and tell you honestly didn't impress me at all!(Nice outlet but all bells and whisles)
I personally service the Stelvio myself or have a local experienced mechanic here in Hudson when it gets too complicated.

If you can try to go to the one in Lasalle .... one of the owners works there.
The one on the South Shore is the place thats apparently getting the tools!!!!
You'll most probable have a better service there.

As for the warranty on my Stelvio gas cover that peeled .... Gearhead came throught. :woohoo:
Whereas the Pierrefond branch were giving me doubts.

The probability of a new dealer being able to help you with that bike is quite low. Are there any old school independent shops in the area?

I agree with Dan, Yves faucher of montecristo should help you.
I've been there a few times, lots of old parts but never wants to sell anything! But I've seen his work and it was very nice.
