This '06 Breva 1100 is my 1st Guzzi. Looking through all downloaded manuals I cannot find the type of oil filter used on this bike. Is it simply a Guzzi item that must be purchased from a dealer, or are there alternatives?

Thanks,
Ron

Bosch 3330, torque to 15Nm. Same as the BMW oil filter for K bikes and oilheads (except the 1200s) uses the standard BMW filter wrench. Won't leak like some of the UFI filters did.

In todays day and age it is easy enough to order the OEM filter from a Guzzi dealer, even if there nearest one is hundreds of miles away. There are non-OEM options, and some of them are as good or better then the stock UFI filter. But the UFI filter is a good filter and there are plenty of options out there that are not as good as the OEM filter.
If you cross reference filter numbers you will find plenty of options. But unless you are sure about the quality and suitability of the filter you chose (I actually cut several filters apart to compare build quality) you are better off with the stock filter.

Well nuts!! I just sold my BMW K75 and gave the buyer all the extra oil filters I had for it. Of course, I didn't know I would be buying the Breva.

Thanks to everybody for the info. I couldn't even find the MG # for the oil filter in the manuals to do a cross-reference.

Re the oil: does anyone actually hunt down the AGIP oil> From other chat, it sounds as though Mobil 1 is a popular choice.

Ron,

Welcome to the family! I use HiFloFiltro HF551 and find them very good and reliable. I generally buy in quantity because they are usually a special order.

Tony,

Thanks for the welcome. And I note that the filter you suggest is also recommended by Moto International who state that this filter was the only one to solve the "Breva 1100 oil leak" problem. Other filters leaked, or caused leaks?

Some of the early (8 flute) UFIs just leaked. Once you got them tight enough to not leak, they were difficult to take back off at the next change. I haven't heard if the new style 14 flute UFI filters are susceptible to leaking. The Bosch 3330 seems to take care of things and I've been using them since 2006.
