Im thinking of selling my 12 Griso and buying a Stelvio. The dealer will give me $9700 in trade.. 6900 miles and perfect cond..Does this seem like a fair price or should I sell it myself..I think I could get $10k private party, am I delusional?

You can always get more via private sale, but if you want to move quickly on a new bike, that trade price sounds pretty fair.
You BD is a '13, BTW.
Watch your email.

Hi Todd, you made me second guess the year. The Ca registration says 2012, must be a transition model from Tenni to BD..

You can determine the model year from the VIN number. Here's a link to a free VIN decoder; vin-decoder.net[/url]

So it turns out my bike is SUPER RARE :lol: It came up as a 2012 Griso 1100....must be what the SE means..

I guess no one clicked on my link, which is pertinent to this conversation now...

A = 1980
B = 1981
incrementally to; Y = 2000
1 = 2001
2 = 2002
incrementally to; 9 = '09
A = 2010
B = 2011
C = 2012
D = 2013
incrementally to; Y = '33

I clicked, thanks. I'd seen that thread before. The C in my VIN does correspond to 2012. But it's interesting that my readout on the search engine doesn't provide a model description, while the OP says his is identified incorrectly.

Don't forget to factor in the sales tax you'll pay. If you trade the Griso in you'll only pay sales tax on the difference between your trade and the new bike. If you do a private sale you'll be taxed on the full purchase price. If you pursue the private sale maybe your dealer will work with you to show it as a trade in and then turn around a sell it to your buyer at the agreed upon price.

Not in CA. Full value of new bike taxed regardless.
