Gday. I changed the oils and filter in wifeys 2013 V7 Stone . Motul 10W60 7100 4T in the engine, Penrite Singear 75W90 in the gearbox, and Penrite 85W140 in the final drive.I was advised by a trusted source to ensure I got the full litre, stated in the manual, into the gearbox by putting the bike on the sidestand or 5th gear can starve. no drama easy done.
However the manual says 200 ml of oil in the final drive, this too is above the level plug. I have seen posts saying 170 ml which is correct? It had 150 ml in it when drained. Moto Guzzis are wonderful things, shame about their technical info. Cheers.

Factory service manual says 170ml

Blocked and copied from it:

Engine oil Oil change and oil filter replacement: 2000 cm³ (122.05 cu.in)
Gearbox oil 1 l (0.26 USgal)
Transmission oil 170 cm³ (10.37 cu.in)

I don't have any notes from my break-in service saying that any of those were that far off so I'm sure my Stone took about 170, maybe a hair less (I wouldn't be worried about a few ml either way).

170 ml will fill it to the plug on the rear of the case which is the level plug. You don't even need to measure, just fill it until it starts to run out of the hole.

Charlie J, does the manual really say 200 ml? 170 has been the published number for years. Although they could have changed things for your model year.

I was wondering that too cause it wasn't in any variant of the manual I've seen, UNLESS I just missed it.

Aha she cried as she shaved her wooden leg, the service disk which I was using says 200ml. BUT the owners manual says 170ml. I will open the level plug. Thanks for your helps.

These manuals, meaning just about every brand, are noted for misprints, typos and plain old mistakes. The final drive in all the publications for the V7s is wrong. They show 4.825 as the final drive ratio. Using their published gear set numbers, 8/33, the ratio should be 4.125. I was trying to make a speed/RPM chart and it just wasn't making sense. I studied the numbers closely and found someone couldn't divide, or just made a big typo. But it had to be the first guy because all the manuals, owners and service, have the same error.

Sure there are mistakes in some of the manuals, but I wouldn't claim there are many, nor would I question everything just because there are a few misprints. Question when things don't seem right.

The fluid capacity of about 170 ml seems about right.
